Taekkyon - Korean martial art

Taekkyeon is a traditional Korean martial art, probably stemming from Subak and Ssirum. It is uncertain when Subak was first practiced in Korea, but it may have existed many centuries ago. The first source mentioning Taekkyon is the book Manmulbo (also Jaemulbo), written around 1790 by Lee, Sung-Ji.[1] Taekkyeon is also frequently romanized informally as Taekkyon or Taekyon.

Taekkyon contains all kinds of techniques, including hand and leg techniques as well as joint locks, head butts and so on. However, today there are different styles which sometimes do not emphasize all techniques. In all styles, just like in past centuries, kicks are most dominant. Taekkyon probably teaches a great variety of kicks, especially low kicks (ddanjuk) but also jumps.

I´ve selected some videos that can help you valorating the way you practice knife defense.

First video is about how hard is to defend from a knife. Run away is the best way to defend against a knife.. well, if your wife is in danger you shouldnt run away! And it seems impossible to succeed 100% in our defense, but does that mean that we should never train it? I think that training the most effective strategies and moves, at least you are increasing the possibility to survive. And its fun for martial arts lovers.
